Challenges of tradition and the new media

Murdoch Speech to editors and Media practitioners

As the pace of technological development increase, media practitioners with any affiliated institutes have to take part for fully gratification to their targeted audiences.

Anyone who doubts this should consider the trend and see how we as media practitioners will exist while audiences don’t want to spend much time reading newspapers or waiting for news bulletin while sitting in their leaving rooms, we will loose our customers and the profession or our media houses will go down if not closed.

Murdoch said, “In the face of this revolution, however we have been very slow to react. We’ve sat by and watched while our newspapers have gradually lost circulation. We all know of great and expensive expectations to this –but the technology is now moving much faster than in the past”.

During the invention of radio as well television print media life span was jeopardized. A new technology comes along, and like many new things, it is somewhat exciting at first, simply by virtue of being new. Hence it’s our time we professionals and the upcoming to comply with the internet use for better service that will as well comply with the pace of new technology.

“Despite this, I’m much confident of our future, both in print and via electronic delivery platforms. The data may show that young people aren’t reading newspapers as much as their predecessors, but it doesn’t show they don’t want news. In fact they want lot news, just faster news of a different kind and delivered in different way”.
